We observed childcare situations in two nursery schools and recorded episodes of childcare workers’ involvement in children. The records were classified according to the childcare workers’ response basics, four items(Kujiraoka, 2004), and Axline’s eight principles(Tsujikawa, 2006). As a result, the most common responses classified based on the childcare workers’ response basics were “acceptance, allowance, and support”. The most common response classified by Axline’s eight principles was “must develop a warm and friendly relationship with the child”, followed by “accepts the child as she or he is”. The responses slightly varied depending on children’s ages. As childcare workers’ characteristic involvement in children, “involvement in the world of children” and “positive affect attunement and negative affect attunement” were observed. It was found that what was considered important in psychotherapy for children was naturally being done in accordance with children’s ages.
