| 内容記述 | In this study, we report on the results of a collaborative project between a special needs school for the visually impaired, a special needs school for the hearing impaired, and a college of education. Students from Naruto University of Education, a teacher training college, took the lead in reading picture books to children enrolled in special needs schools. The university students worked on ways to convey the contents and enjoyment of the picture books to the children, such as using sign language and creating concrete objects appropriate to the content of the picture books. A survey of the students revealed that they had little experience interacting with children with visual or hearing impairments before participating in this activity. It was also shown that reading picture books to children brought joy to the students, and to motivate them to improve the way they read to children and to improve their own communication skills. | |||||||||||||||||
