| 内容記述 | This paper investigates the syntactic structure of the tari coordination construction in Japanese, focusing on its interaction with control and the argument structure of suru ‘do’. I argue that the construction allows two distinct structural types: a control type, where the matrix subject controls PRO in each tari clause, and a non-control type, where subjects are overtly realized within each conjunct. Evidence from inanimate subjects, idioms, and null arguments supports this dichotomy. Furthermore, I propose that the distribution of the two structures depends on the argument structure of suru, which is shared with the light verb construction in Japanese. | |||||||||||
