In this study, three aspects of school organization were set. These are, isolation tendency among teachers ('isolation tendency'), teachers' collegiality tendency ('collegiality tendency'), and managerial control tendency ('control tendency'). In this study, especially, it is aimed to clarify the negative effects of isolation tendency on educational activities, and to reveal the effects of collegiality tendency and control tendency. Questionnaires survey was conducted. Respondents to survey are 955 classroom teachers in elementary schools. Main results were the following. 1. Effects of school organization on educational activities 1) Teachers' perceived difficulties of instruction and classroom management was stronger in high isolation tendency than in low isolation, and was smaller in high collegiality tendency than in low collegiality tendency, and 2) Teachers' school improvement orientation was lower in high isolation tendency than in low isolation tendency. While teachers' school improvement orientation was higher in high collegiality tendency or control tendency, the effect of collegiality was larger than control tendency. In the case which both collegiality and control were high, teachers' school improvement orientation was the highest. 2. Factors effecting school organization 1) The custom of school which lose substance as an educational organization reinforced isolation tendency and limits collegiality and control tendency, and 2) In the case which the attitude of community to school was negative, isolation tendency became stronger. In the case which the attitude of community to school was positive, collegiality and control were reinforced. These results suggested that the main problem to reform school organization is to modify isolation tendency in school.
