Taking such background into consideration, the author has conducted a series of research on teachers’ use of classroom English to design a program to foster teachers’ ability to use classroom English. This article is part of the research, and its purpose is to report the results of analysis of a survey carried out to grasp upper secondary school English language teachers’ needs, abilities and realities of their use of classroom English in English classes. As a result of this survey, discrepancies were found out among their needs, abilities and realities.
