For this purpose, the author reviewed a number of prior studies and research with regard to psychology of handwriting in Japanese language learning. As a result, studies in three areas were identified ; 1)Studies of how to hold writing utensils, 2)Studies of correct stroke order recognition, 3) Studies of correct writing of Japanese characters. With these areas of studies, the author introduced one of the methodologies used in the field of psychology of school subjects to further investigate handwriting in Japanese language learning.
