 note = {Homes form the basis of families’ everyday lives, as well as the growth of children as members of society. In order to realize more fulfilling lives, it is necessary for children to develop knowledge of home living. While knowledge of home living is taught as part of various subjects in school, home economics is the only subject in which it is taught as a specific educational topic as housing education. However, due to the difficulty of teaching housing education and a lack of teaching materials among other issues, the content that is taught varies among teachers, and these issues have not been sufficiently addressed. In the present study, we organized and analyzed the descriptive content of home economics textbooks used at senior high schools, six on “General Home Economics” used in academic year 2014．Based on the results, we summarized the housing education content that should be taught in senior high schools, and proposed a teaching plan.},
