This paper aims to report on current efforts for family education support, and consider the significance and possibilities of support for children and families of modern Japanese society. Specifically, this first looks at the history of "family education" and "family education support" promoted by the Ministry. Second, while considering the purposes of policies for "family education support" expressed by the Ministry, this paper reports on the "Family Education Promotion Leaders Fostering Project," a pioneering family education promotion project that respects parents' central role in raising children in Tokushima Prefecture.
