As a result of a survey of university students' skills, it was found that the students are generally less skilled in thread-knotting than in French-knotting. Video search on the YouTube website showed that the most are explained for the right-handed, and few are for the left-handed. A video for right- and left-handed students were newly created as a teaching material. Students' performances of knotting were evaluated by the teachers and compared according to whether the videos were watched or not. The group who practiced while watching the video had a higher and lower percentages of good A ratings and the poor C ratings, respectively. In particular, watching the video was rather more effective to improve the skill of thread-knotting than that of French-knotting.
