| 内容記述 | As previous studies point out, Japanese conjunctive particle “kedo” has various uses, and each use has its own interpretation process. But little attention has been given to the relationships between the interpretation process of the utterance and the hearer’s linguistic responses involving backchannels. This paper makes clear the following two points focusing on the two kinds of environment such as the end of the subordinate clause and the main clause, 1）At the end of the subordinate clause, various backchannels occur in each use, and they request the following utterance indicating the understanding the tterance and the sympathy to the speaker. 2）At the end of the main clause, more backchannels occur than those of the subordinate clause, and they indicate the completion of the utterance interpretation and the informational sufficiency. These facts show us that there are close relationships between the interpretation process of the utterance and the hearer’s linguistic responses. | |||||||||||
