A check-list in health examination consisted of the items for mental development, physical development and medical history. Parents of 505 children completed these check-lists. Thirty main items for mental development were divided into the following six categories: Motor Behavior, Language Behavior, Personal-Social Behavior, Visual Sense, Auditory Sense, and Others. The children were divided into three groups [High (A), Middle (B), Low (C)] depending on Total Developmental Scores (TDS). 500 of all children were divided into three groups [High (H), Middle (M), Low (L)], depending on score of psychological tests. Regarding the relation with the screening system, there were 45 children (Group L) who were judged to be a few problem or problems at 18 months. There were 21 of these 45 children who were able to be follow-up for three-years-olds. The main results were as follows: (1) The categorical scores decreased in order of TDS (A\u003eB\u003eC) on Motor Behavior, Language Behavior, Personal-Social Behavior, Auditory Sense. (2) In Group L there were 36 (80%) who were High or Middle level on TDS. (3) The Motor Behavior and Language Behavior items related to the results of routine health check-ups for three-year-olds. In order to have more a rigid and utility screening system in the future, we believe it will be necessary to reexamine items of a check-list and psychological tests. In addition, we have to revise the communication between the children and parent/guardian and perfect the support system for some children who have problems at 18 months.",
